International Coffee Day:  a passion that connects Brazil and the world

From field to cup, coffee brings millions of people together and moves global economy

On October 1st, we celebrate International Coffee Day. A date that reaffirms the greatness of a beverage that transcends borders, connects cultures, and generates prosperity. Coffee is not only a national, a global passion. Remarkably, it is one of the most imprtant products in the global economy. And it is the second most consumed beverage on the planet, the second only to water.

Coffee: tradition, diversity and socialization

Coffee is present in 98% of Brazilian households, according to the Brazilian Coffee Industry Association (ABIC). Each Brazilian consumes an average of 1,430 cups per year. More than a routine, it is a habit that conveys affection, hospitality, and unity. In different cultures, sharing a cup of coffee means welcoming, socializing, and connecting.

In addition, coffee surprises with its diversity: there is a wide range of options, from traditional beans to specialty coffees, which delight demanding palates and create unique gastronomic experiences. This universe of flavors grows with each harvest and accompanies the evolution of a more curious and up-to-date consumer who is attentive to the origin of the beverage.

The contribution of Cooxupé

At Cooxupé, we are proud of bringing together more than 21 thousand associated families who produce superb Arabica coffees, bringing quality and excellence to consumers in Brazil and in more than 50 countries. We are committed to adding value to the work of each producer, ensuring that the tradition and essence of coffee farming are present in every lot.

We’ve recently expanded our domestic operations with Cooxupé’s Roastery facility, which is now present in Brazilian retail and expanding access to high-quality coffees. Our roasted and ground coffees include the brands Evolutto and Prima Qualità. The products have been distributed in Minas Gerais, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, and also in the South of Brazil, with plans to broaden operations into the country. In addition, we launched our instant coffee brands, reaching different consumer profiles, and showing that innovation and tradition might go hand in hand.

The future of coffee and new consumers

According to a survey released by the National Supply Company (CONAB), the 2025 coffee harvest is estimated at 55.2 million bags. According to CONAB, even though this year is characterized by a low biennial cycle, the estimated volume points to a 1.8% growth compared to the result obtained in 2024. This figure highlights the importance of Brazil as the world’s leading producer and remarks our responsibility to continue growing in a sustainable way.

With an eye to the future, Cooxupé is preparing to keep pace with changes in consumption profile, especially among young people. The new generation is looking for unique experiences, coffees with identity, and a connection to their origins. At the same time, we maintain the essence of quality and tradition that characterizes our members’ coffee.

International Coffee Day

Celebrating International Coffee Day means recognizing the value of every producer, every family, and every consumer who helps building this universe. It means reaffirming that coffee is more than just a drink: it’s all about culture, economy, passion. And it is precisely this passion that drives us to innovate, expand, and strengthen, so that every cup is always a source of pride
